Brazil's retail sales rose 11,8% percent in January 2008 from January 2007, the national statistics agency said last friday. Retail, supermarket and grocery store sales, as measured by units sold, rose more than the revised 9,5% percent increase in December, the national statistic agency said today.
This in sharp contrast to the Unites States, where January 2008 retail sales went down 2% in one month compared to the December level.
